The team provides a range of eyeglasses frames and lenses in-office. They also specialize in soft multifocal contact lenses, fittings for healthy and difficult-to-fit individuals, and offer a variety of lens types, including daily disposables, extended wear soft, and rigid gas permeable (RGP) lenses. Dr. Sabrina Mayo, OD, is our expert in soft multifocal contact lenses, and she brings specialized knowledge to fitting lenses for various cases. However, it's important to clarify that while she handles soft multifocal contacts and RGP lenses, scleral lenses are not within her area of specialization. Our team is dedicated to providing tailored solutions to meet your unique eye care needs.

The eye specialists provide dilated eye exams to assess your eye health and test your visual acuity. If you plan to wear contacts, the team performs a specialized contact lens exam to ensure the lenses fit over your eye correctly.

The Mayo Family Eye Care LLC team takes necessary measurements for your contacts and glasses and determines your prescription during your eye exam. The Mayo Family Eye Care LLC team offers a variety of contact lens choices, including soft and multifocal lenses. After an exam, they can recommend contacts that align with your needs. For instance, if you don’t want to take your contacts out every day, your eye doctor might prescribe continuous wear contacts.

If you have myopia (nearsightedness) and need orthokeratology (ortho-k contacts), the team can refer you to an ortho-k specialist. Conversely, if you need prescription glasses or sunglasses, you can find a large selection of designer frames in the on-site optical department. The staff help you select the right frame for your face and can recommend special lens coatings like those that protect against eye strain from computer use. When your contacts or glasses are ready, the team ensures they fit well and that you can see clearly. The team can also assist you if you need repairs to your frames or replacement contacts.

It is recommended by the American Optometric Association that an eye exam be performed at 6 months old to evaluate the health of the eye and risks for amblyopia. Children and adults should have an exam annually thereafter. However, if you wear glasses or contacts or have an underlying eye condition, you may need more frequent eye exams.

It's important to note that contact lens prescriptions usually require annual renewal. This ensures that individuals using contact lenses undergo a comprehensive eye examination each year to assess their eye health and update their contact lens prescription as needed.
